They have demanded from the Police Commissioner that this matter should be taken into cognizance and action should be taken by registering a case.
The Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sangathan have alleged that people from the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, while taking out a Muharram procession, were tampering with the Tricolour.
They have demanded from the Police Commissioner that this matter should be taken into cognizance and action should be taken by registering a case.
Bajrang Dal's Krishna Tiwari said, "Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad met the commissioner against the way in which these 'jihadis' are working on the planning of 'Gajwa-e-Hind' under the 'jihadi mindset'."
He also claimed that they insulted the national flag and the Ashoka Chakra.
"After removing the Ashoka Chakra, a picture of the moon and stars were used. And we are protesting against it as it is a punishable offense," Tiwari added.
Responding to the allegations, Kanpur Police Commissioner BP Jogdand assured them of an investigation into the matter and said if something like this has happened, then strict action will be taken.
"People from some organisations came to us, we have given the investigation to DCP east. If there had been an insult of the national flag, then action will be taken on it."
