Pakistan captain Babar Azam has backed out-of-form Hasan Ali to bounce back and get back into the international setup quickly.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam has backed Hasan Ali to make a strong comeback to international cricket after the right-arm pacer was dropped for the ODI series against the Netherlands and the upcoming Asia Cup.
Ali's indifferent form in white-ball cricket finally forced the selectors to drop him and include the uncapped Naseem Shah in the white-ball format.
The right-arm pacer has played three ODIs this year and managed to pick up just two wickets at a poor average of 76.5. He also didn't have a great campaign at the 2021 T20 World Cup.
However, Azam has backed Ali to regain form and make a comeback into international cricket soon. Speaking to the media ahead of departing for the Netherlands tour, as quoted by News 18, the Pakistan skipper said that he knows the right-arm pacer is not in form but it's not like the 28-year-old has anything to prove.
“I know Hasan Ali is not in form, but it’s not like that he has to prove anything,” said Azam.
Azam then extended his support to Ali and hailed him as a team man. The Pakitan skipper said that with domestic cricket is coming up, he hopes that the 28-year-old will be playing it and will make a strong comeback into the international team.
“I support Hasan Ali because he’s a team man domestic cricket is coming up, he’ll play that and hopefully make a strong comeback," said Azam.
