Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix will brief British Columbians on the current COVID-19 situation at 3 p.m. PT Monday.
The in-person update comes in the wake of grim case numbers Friday, when the province announced 820 new cases of COVID-19 and nine more deaths, the most deaths in a single day since Feb. 25. Hospitalizations were up 295 per cent from a month ago, and the number of patients in intensive care was up 487 per cent in that same time period. CBC will livestream the briefing here. As of today, British Columbians over the age of 12 will need to prove they have been vaccinated with at least one dose before they can access a range of non-essential indoor settings including restaurants, fitness facilities and arts venues. Adults aged 19 and over will also need to show a government-issued piece of photo ID. By Oct. 24, people will need to have been fully vaccinated with two doses for at least seven days.More Related News
