Ravichandran Ashwin heaped praise on Axar Patel, saying that the 28-year-old has impressed everyone with his left-arm spin at a time when the focus is on different variations. Axar was the Man Of The Series in the three matches against Australia.
Ravichandran Ashwin has heaped praise on fellow spinner Axar Patel after the bowling all-rounder impressed during the series against Australia.
In the three-match series where we saw a lot of high-scoring matches, Patel was the most economical bowler and picked up eight wickets as well. He was named the Man Of The Series for his efforts.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, as quoted by NDTV, Ashwin heaped praise on Patel and said that the 28-year-old has excelled at a time when the focus is on mystery spin, wrist spin and other stuff.
“In a high-scoring series, he was at his economical best. In a world where the focus is hugely on mystery spin, googly, wrist spin, and other stuff, he has impressed with his orthodox left-arm spin bowling," said Ashwin.
The veteran also said that Patel is reaping rewards for his variations and is getting value out of it as well.
“Pure value for putting the ball where he wants to and varying his pace, line, and length. That is a welcome sign if you ask me, when it comes to spin bowling," said Ashwin.
