Award function brings Coimbatore Vizha to a close

17 individuals honored at Coimbatore Vizha Awards for exceptional contributions to the city, celebrating achievements in various fields.
The 17th edition of Coimbatore Vizha concluded with a valedictory ceremony on Sunday, where 17 individuals were honoured with the Vizha Awards for their “exceptional contributions” to the city.
“This initiative was launched to give back to society and recognise individuals who have significantly contributed to shaping Coimbatore. We received over 400 nominations from the public, and a jury short-listed 17 awardees, reflecting this year’s 17th edition,” said Yash Manivannan, head of the Vizha Awards.
The awards recognised individuals across various fields including education, cultural development, environmental conservation, public health, and community service.
M. Dharmaraj, who was honoured with the “Cultural Ambassador” award for his efforts in preserving the folk art Valli Kummi, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Recognition from my own city is the greatest honour I could receive.”
The evening also saw a series of cultural performances that added vibrancy to the event.
