The autorickshaw provides newspapers and magazines, besides access to an iPad Pro, a laptop, a tab, Amazon AWS and snacks to the passengers.
A 38-year-old Annamalai drives an autorickshaw in Chennai, which is a very special one in the city as it instantly brings smiles and joy to the passengers.
Amidst the routine of unpleasant travel fare negotiations with autorickshaw drivers, Annadurai appears like a pleasant ray of shine as he doesn’t charge even a rupee extra over the government-decided travel fee and always use the meter.
“Only by accident I became an autorickshaw driver and it’s been 12 years now,” said Annadurai.
His autorickshaw, aptly named 'Amazing Auto', provides over 25 magazines and newspapers to the passengers. And what shocks many is that Amazing Auto's passengers get access to an iPad Pro, a laptop, a tab, Amazon AWS and Google Nest. Besides, Annadurai also provides the passengers with chocolates kept in a wooden basket and cool beverages inside a mini cooler box.
“To me, customers are everything. Initially, I started providing them with papers and their appreciation made me realise that if you keep a customer happy, they never forget you. Since then, I started providing them with more amenities”, stated Annadurai.
His humble attitude and policy to be nice to strangers have taken him to heights where he has provided lectures in several colleges and Corporate institutions and yet never boasted about them.
When asked how he could afford to spend on such costly amenities and high-speed Wi-Fi, Annadurai said that he never ran out of customers who loved his autorickshaw and due to that he earns thrice than normal autorickshaw drivers.
