Auto Shanghai 2021: Audi A7L unveiled for the Chinese market
India Today
The Audi A7L is a stretched, more conventionally styled version of the A7 Sportback sold globally that has been developed keeping the needs of the lucrative Chinese luxury car market in mind.
Luxury carmakers have been developing models specifically for the market in China for years now with one of the most popular categories being long-wheelbase versions of their regular models. Audi A7 is the latest to get the stretched treatment, but there’s more to it than just an extended wheelbase. While the regular Audi A7 is a sporty four-door coupe in terms of exterior styling, the Audi A7L features a completely redesigned rear section aside from having a longer wheelbase than the regular car. The nose is largely the same as the A7 Sportback save for a different bumper and grille detailing. B-pillar onwards the differences become apparent as the Audi A7L ditches the Sportback’s coupe silhouette and adopts a more conventional three-box shape. The tail lamp treatment is quite similar but the A7L looks completely different from the A7 Sportback when viewed from the rear. The ‘L’ prefix denotes an increase in wheelbase and the Audi A7L, measuring 3,026mm between the axles, has been stretched by 98mm with a firm focus on increasing rear-seat space. While the Audi A7 Sportback measures 4,969mm long, the A7L is 5,076mm long. Inside, the dashboard remains the same as the Sportback. Needless to say, there is more legroom for those seated in the rear.More Related News
