The Green Car Award honours the best electric car launched in India and it was the Audi e-tron SUV that prevailed, edging out the Audi e-tron GT and the Jaguar I-Pace.
The winners of the Indian Car of the Year 2022 awards have been announced and the Audi e-tron has bagged the Green Car Award 2022. The Green Car award by ICOTY was introduced last year to respect and appreciate the efforts the automotive manufacturers have been making towards a sustainable future. The e-tron won against strong contenders like the Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Taycan, Tata Tigor EV and its own sibling, the Audi e-Tron GT.
Audi e-Tron scored 104 points for the top spot with the Audi e-tron GT in second and the Jaguar I-Pace finishing third. The Jury of ICOTY consists of 17 automotive journalists of which Yogendra Pratap, Editor, Auto Today, is a member and Chairman. Each jury member has 25 points to distribute among a minimum of five vehicles while awarding their ‘winner’ with a clear points majority. The cars are awarded on the basis of suitability for the varied Indian conditions, relevance to the Indian market, real-world performance, ease of charging, reliability and design.
On being honored with the Green Car Award 2022 by ICOTY, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India said,” Extremely happy to receive the award from ICOTY, it’s the best in the Indian Automotive Industry. We are also happy as we have launched 5 electric cars in India and the e-tron wins this award and also, our e-tron GT came as the runner-up. We are thankful to our customers who have been liking this car all this while and thank you to all our jury for the recognition.”
