The 4-year-old girl, identified as Sarita, was playing outside their home in Nilgiri when the leopard attacked the child. Her father, Kisanth, is a migrant labourer from North India who was working in a private tea estate in Nilgiri.
She was bitten in the neck by the leopard. She was rushed to the Ooty Government Medical College Hospital.
However, she died after not responding to treatment.
