At 4.35%, retail inflation falls to five-month low in September; IIP grows by 11.9% in August

Retail inflation based on CPI fell to 4.35 per cent in September, the lowest since April 2021. As opposed to this, retail inflation had jumped to an eight-month high of 7.34 per cent in September 2020.
Retail inflation across the country based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to 4.35 per cent in September from 5.30 per cent in August, according to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO). It is the lowest retail inflation recorded since April 2021.
Comparatively, retail inflation had jumped to an eight-month high of 7.34 per cent in September 2020, primarily being driven by higher food inflation.
