Assam: Prime accused held for setting Batadrava police station on fire

The Nagaon police have arrested the prime accused involved in the Batadrava police station torching case. The police have arrested more than ten people till now and the investigation is on.
The Nagaon police, with the help of the Darrang police, arrested the mastermind and prime accused in the Batadrava arson incident late Thursday night.
The police have held the prime accused behind setting the Batadrava police station on fire in Nagaon district after a man allegedly died in police custody.
The accused, identified as Alauddin, reportedly fled from Batadrava and went into hiding immediately after the Nagaon police identified him from the video footage.
A team of the Nagaon police reached the district on Thursday evening and launched a massive manhunt with the help of personnel from the Dhula police station to nab Alauddin.
The accused tried to escape but after chasing him for around six kilometres, the police were able to nab him from the Mousida area under Dhula police station in Assam's Darrang district.
Reportedly, the accused was not the first offender. He has been involved in the drug trade and several cases of dacoities. He has many cases pending against him at the Batadrava police station.
While he was arrested and brought to Dhula police station, he will be shifted to Nagaon on Friday.
