
Assam man arrested for allegedly forcing minor girl into prostitution

Abu Swama was arrested for forcing a 14-year-old minor girl into prostitution. Police said he was earlier arrested for human trafficking and was involved in running a prostitution racket in his locality.
Police arrested a man for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old minor girl into prostitution in Assam’s Kamrup district.
According to the Kamrup district police, the arrested person was identified as Abu Shwama, hailing from Jurshimalu Chautara village near Goroimari in Kamrup district.
Police also said that he was earlier arrested in a human trafficking case. A police official of Kamrup district said that, based on the complaint of the 14-year-old girl victim, police had arrested the accused person from his house on Thursday, January 27.
“The victim girl mentioned in her complaint that, the accused person had allegedly drugged her and forced her into prostitution. A case was registered at Chhaygaon police station (case no 91/2022) in connection with this and after investigation we had arrested the accused person,” the police official said.
The police official further said that the accused person was also involved in various other crimes.
“He (accused person) was running a prostitution racket in his locality and many others are also involved with this. Our investigation is on and we will nab all other persons who are involved with it,” the police official said.
