Assam government to confer awards on lines of Bharat Ratna, Padma awards

Apart from the Asom Ratna award, the Assam government has also decided to bestow the 'Asom Bibhushan', 'Assam Bhushan' and 'Asom Shree' awards each year.
The Assam cabinet has decided to institute the 'Asom Ratna' award to be presented every year to one person who has made a significant contribution to society. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Tuesday. The cabinet also decided to bestow 'Asom Bibhushan' award to three people, 'Assam Bhushan' to five people and 'Asom Shree' to 10 people every year. The awards will be accompanied by a cash reward of Rs 5 lakhs, Rs 3 lakhs, Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh, respectively, with other benefits like free medical treatment of critical illness, free stay at Assam Bhawans, free travel on ASTC buses, among others.More Related News
