Assam CM Himanta Biswa promises law even for 'Hindu boy cheating Hindu girl'

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said his government will bring a law to deal with instances of Hindu men cheating Hindu women for marriage. He said the new law would apply equally for Hindus and Muslims.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said a Hindu boy cheating a Hindu girl was also ‘jihad’. He said the Assam government would bring a new law against it which would be equally applicable to Hindus and Muslims. “We don’t want to use the word ‘love jihad’. A Hindu man also should not cheat a Hindu girl. It cannot be called love jihad only when a Muslim man cheats a Hindu girl. If a Hindu man cheats a Hindu girl, he will also be punished. We will work against such cheating,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
