Assam police firing: A witness to the incident said some villagers in the state's Dholpur area had attacked security personnel who had arrived there to carry out an eviction drive. The situation remains tense in the Dholpur village of Assam after a viral video showed police personnel and a government-appointed photographer mercilessly beating a man in the village. Two civilians were killed in clashes with the police force, while at least 20 others, including policemen, were seriously injured. The deceased were identified as Saddam Hussain and Sheikh Forid. Also, several people were injured, including nine policemen. Assistant Sub-Inspector Moniruddin is admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, news agency PTI reported.
