Assam BJP chief demands President’s rule in Bengal over post-poll violence

Following the declaration of poll results on May 2, in which TMC secured a thumping win, Bengal witnessed a spate of violent incidents
President of BJP’s Assam unit Ranjeet Kumar Dass said the party would demand an imposition of President’s Rule in West Bengal over post-poll violence in the state. “Our party believes in democracy. If Mamata Banerjee is not able to restore democracy and secure the life and properties of the people in West Bengal, then we will not only demand imposition of President’s Rule in the state, but will also start an agitation in Assam,” Ranjeet Kumar Dass told India Today TV. Following the declaration of poll results on May 2, in which TMC secured a thumping win, Bengal witnessed a spate of violent incidents. BJP has alleged that at least 16 of its party workers were killed in post-poll violence and several party workers fled to nearby states like Assam, Odisha and Jharkhand.More Related News
