"Raimona and Dihing Patkai National Parks have been formally notified, adding to Assam's total tally of seven National Parks," Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya said on Wednesday.
Assam has become the second state in the country to have the highest number of National Parks after Madhya Pradesh. "Raimona and Dihing Patkai National Parks have been formally notified, adding to Assam's total tally of seven National Parks. The newly created National Parks will help to boost conservation efforts and provide a fillip to tourism and agriculture sectors," Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya said on Wednesday. He said the declaration of Raimona National Park by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was done on the occasion of World Environment Day (5 June). The Raimona National Park covering 422 kilometres is situated in the Gossaigaon subdivision of the Kokrajhar district and will be administered by the Kachugaon Forest Division of BTC, Assam.More Related News
