Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar was thrown open to the public starting from Wednesday, March 23. Here's all about the iconic garden.
With more than 1.5 million tulips blooming over 30 hectares of land, Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar was thrown open to the public starting from Wednesday, March 23.
The iconic garden has more than 1.5 million tulips of 60 varieties and colours, which attracts a throng of tourists from different parts of the country and the world alike.
Modified in 2004, the famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden has become a booster for tourism in Kashmir.
An official, Dr Inaam, told India today that last year, despite Covid restrictions, more than 2 lakh visitors visited Tulip Garden, including 80 thousand tourists from other parts of the country, adding that the opening of the Tulip Garden signals the arrival of tourists in the valley.
"Tulip Garden in Srinagar is pre-starting our summer tourism season in the Valley. We are getting a lot of queries from tourists about dates for the opening of this garden and we are hopeful the number of tourists this year will double in Tulip Garden," Dr Inaam said.
Located in the foothills of the Zabarvan mountains, Srinagar, Asia’s largest Tulip Garden, is surrounded by mountains and water bodies. Besides tulips, the garden houses Muscari, Daffodil Hyssen among other types of flowers.
