Asia Cup 2022: Rashid Khan went past Tim Southee's tally of 114 wickets in T20I cricket. The 23-year-old jolted Bangladesh with a 3-wicket spell on Tuesday in Sharjah.
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan on Tuesday, August 30 achieved a new milestone as he became the 2nd most successful bowler in T20I cricket. The 23-year-old took his tally to 115 wickets in the shortest format of the game at the highest level.
Rashid Khan achieved the milestone during Afghanistan's 2nd Asia Cup 2022 match against Bangladesh at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Rashid jolted the Bangladesh batting unit with figures of 3 for 22 as Shakib Al Hasan's men were restricted to 127 for 7 in 20 overs after they opted to bat first in their first match of the continental tournament.

Rashid Khan went past New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee's tally of 114 wickets in T20I cricket. Rashid is now only behind Bangladesh captain Shakib, who had 121 T20I wickets before Tuesday's encounter in Sharjah. Shakib took his tally to 122 in the powerplay as he removed dangerous Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Rashid, who made his T20I debut in 2015, has gone on to become one of the superstars of the game, especially in the shortest format of the game. He became the fastest to 100 T20I wickets as he got to the landmark in just 53 T20is.
Rashid Khan also holds the record for the most wickets by a spinner in T20 cricket. He has 472 wickets, 9 more than West Indies great Sunil Narine as of August 30, 2022. Rashid is only behind Dwayne Bravo, who leads the list with 604 wickets.
