Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is all set to undergo a precautionary scan after he picked up a strain in his right leg during their Asia Cup Super 4 match against India in Dubai on Sunday, September 5.
Pakistan have already been hit by injury woes as their premier pacer Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 due to a knee injury. Pakistan also lost Mohammad Wasim and pacer Shahnawaz Dahani due to injury concerns/
As it turned out, Rizwan was taken to the hospital right after Pakistan's win over India for a precautionary MRI scan, according to the Press Trust of India.
Rizwan was in visible discomfort when he leaped high to stop a bouncer that was going over his head from pacer Mohammad Hasnain in the 15th over of the Indian innings. The Pakistan wicketkeeper landed awkwardly and needed the physio's attention as he was wincing in pain.
It looked as if Rizwan would not continue to keep wickets but the Pakistan star put on a brave face and returned to the field and kept wickets for the remainder of the innings.
Despite the injury, Rizwan came out to open the innings and scored a match-winning 51-ball 71 to help Pakistan chase down India's 181 for seven with five wickets in hand. Rizwan ran hard between wickets and made sure the injury scare did not affect Pakistan's prospects.
Rizwan's 73-run partnership for the 3rd wicket with Mohammad Nawaz proved to be game-changing as the duo pummeled the Indian attack to successfully chase down their highest total in T20Is against India.
