Pakistan, on Friday, September 2, registered the second-largest victory by margin of runs by a full-member nation in men’s T20Is after beating Hong Kong by 155 runs in a Group A match of Asia Cup 2022.
At the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Pakistan bowled Hong Kong out for 38 in 10.4 overs and finished second in their group after Rohit Sharma’s India.
The highest victory in T20Is by a full-member country was registered by Sri Lanka, who beat Kenya by 172 runs in the T20 World Cup 2007 at Wanderers in Johannesburg.
However, Pakistan registered their biggest victory by margin of runs against Hong Kong. Back in April 2018, the Men in Green beat West Indies by 143 runs at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Pakistan’s victory was also the 10th largest by any country in T20Is. The Czech Republic hold the world record, having defeated Turkey by 257 runs back in August 2019.
As far as the Asia Cup match was concerned, Pakistan posted a target of 194 for Hong Kong to chase down after being sent to bat first.
