Asia Cup 2022 | I think you would have to say Arshdeep Singh has overtaken Avesh Khan: Sanjay Manjrekar

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Arshdeep Singh has a slight edge over Avesh Khan when it comes to getting a spot in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan have impressed people with the opportunities they have got, but he feels that the left-arm pacer has an edge over his Indian teammate.
Singh has been on a roll since making his international debut for India. The left-arm pacer was even adjudged the Man Of The Series during the recently-concluded series against the West Indies.
The Indian team announced their squad for the upcoming Asia Cup on 8th August, with Singh and Khan being two of the three pacers included in the mix.
Speaking about the competition between the two pacers for a spot in the starting lineup, Manjrekar said exclusively on SPORTS18's daily sports news show 'SPORTS OVER THE TOP', as quoted by MyKhel, that the left-arm seamer has a slight advantage over Khan.
"There is actually a nice race going on for that flight to Australia to get that seat in business class. You know these guys travel business class. We used to be in economy, so I say that very sort of grudgingly. So, a race going on to clamour to get those seats on business class to Australia. And that's where I think you would have to say Arshdeep Singh has overtaken Avesh Khan," said Manjrekar.
The former Indian cricketer also went on to say that the reason why Singh has overtaken the right-arm pacer is because he is doing the exact same role as his teammate.
"Avesh Khan is slightly behind there and that is something that's very interesting. You know this is a real competition going on for spots. Arshdeep Singh has certainly taken a little lead over Avesh Khan because he's doing exactly what is what Avesh Khan's role is - to go with the new ball in the middle and in the death as well," said Manjrekar.
