Buzzing from their win against Pakistan, India will look to seal a spot in the Super Four stage when they take on Hong Kong on Wednesday.
India will be looking to seal a spot in the Super Four stages of the Asia Cup 2022 as they take on Hong Kong on Wednesday in Dubai.
The Indian team will be entering the contest in buoyant mood as they secured a five-wicket win over Pakistan in their campaign opener on 28th August. The pace attack led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar did their job on the day as they broke the back of the Pakistan batting lineup. Kumar, who picked up four wickets, received ample support from Hardik Pandya, who was in sublime touch on the day.
The target was set at 148, but the chase was anything but straightforward. The Indian top order failed to impress and all eyes would be on them for the encounter against Hong Kong. While Kohli played a calm knock of 35, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul failed to impress.
The Indian skipper scored just 12 runs off 18 deliveries while Rahul was dismissed for a golden duck by the impressive Naseem Shah.
Both the openers will be looking at the associate team as an opportunity to regain their touch and return to form ahead of the Super Four stages.
Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja seem to be the in-form players with the bat at the moment. The all-rounder duo remained calm under pressure against Pakistan and ensured that India got over the line. Pandya and Jadeja's ability with the ball could also prove to be decisive on the day.
