Ashes, 1st Test: David Warner missed out on his 25th Test hundred as he was dismissed in the nervous nineties for the seventh time in his Test career.
David Warner came up with a counter-attacking 94 on Day 1 of the 1st Test against Australia after getting a reprieve on a no-ball off Ben Stokes and when the 3-figure score was in sight, the opener was dismissed by pacer Ollie Robinson. Warner was dropped twice and had a reprieve on a no-ball before settling down and sharing a 156-run second-wicket partnership with Marnus Labuschagne to lift Australia on Friday.
The umpires failed to call four no-balls before Stokes appeared to have Warner out for 17, only to be overturned when replays showed he had once again overstepped the crease. Spinner Jack Leach removed Marnus Labuschagne for 74 and paceman Mark Wood dismissed Steve Smith for 12 just before the break, but Australia's batsmen came off with a 46-run lead over England.
