Asha Parekh recently opened up about never getting married or having children. The veteran actress said that she would’ve loved to have done these things in life, but has no regrets.
Asha Parekh, the reigning actress of Hindi cinema in the 60s and 70s, is the epitome of grace and elegance, not just on screen and in beauty, but in the dignified way she has lived her life. She never got married. Never had children. Does she regret her single life? The veteran actress spoke about this and more with Harper’s Bazaar India as she graced its cover this month.
Padma Shri-awardee, Asha Parekh, is an idol for many people. Her career is an inspiration. In her personal life, she has suffered heartbreaks and, despite coming close to getting married twice, she has lived a single life. Does she have regrets? The veteran actress told Harper’s Bazaar India, "I guess I was not destined to get married. Honestly, I would have loved to get married and have children, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, I have absolutely no regrets (sic).”
On happiness and beauty, she said, “I have always believed—and continue to believe—that beauty resides within the person. If you are happy, you’ll shine...and if you are unhappy, it will show on your face (sic).”
Asha Parekh also talked about her go-to people for any advice she needs. She named veteran actress Waheeda Rehman as someone she admires a lot. She said, “There are quite a few people I turn to for advice, actually. I often talk to Dr Dastur, a very close friend of mine. Then [actor] Waheeda Rehman ji...whom I admire a lot. I listen to her if she says something isn’t right. But I am open to taking advice from anyone...if it’s good advice, why not (sic)?”
