Experts viewed Sudhakar Singh as one who often embarrassed Bihar CM Nitish Kumar with his blatant and outspoken approach.
Sudhakar Singh tendered his resignation to the Bihar government as state agricultural minister on Sunday. Confirming the decision, his father, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Bihar president, Jagdanand Singh, said, "My son wanted to fight for the rights of farmers, but he was facing a lot of issues doing that, so he called it quits."
"Someone needs to stand up for the farmers and the injustice being done to them. The agriculture minister took this up. Killing Mandi law ( Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Act) has destroyed the farmers of the state," Singh said while adding that farmers represented the country.

The rift between Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar and agriculture minister Sudhakar Singh escalated as the former ignored the minister and chaired a crucial meeting to review the department's work. Sudhakar Singh had claimed that there was rampant corruption in the department. This comes amidst the prevailing drought situation in Bihar in September 2022.
In fact, Singh said that there was rampant corruption in Bihar's agriculture department and he himself was the “choron ka sardaar [head of the thieves].”
