As migrant wave hits the border, Mayorkas says it will ‘take time’ for results of Title 42 plan to be realized

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is warning that the results of his plan to deal with the surge of migrants coming with the end of Title 42 will not be seen immediately.
Authorities have already seen in the region of 10,000 encounters a day this week, and Mayorkas conceded that he expects the days and weeks ahead to be "very difficult" even with the plan he has touted in place. "Even after nearly two years of preparation, we expect to see large numbers of encounters at our southern border in the days and weeks after May 11th," he sad. "We are already seeing high numbers of encounters in certain sectors. This places an incredible strain on our personnel, our facilities and our communities with whom we partner closely."
