In light of a steady decline in Covid-19 cases in Kerala, the CPM has decided to go ahead with the party’s state conference in Kochi from March 1, as was planned earlier.
The decision was taken at the state secretariat meeting of the CPM on account of Covid restrictions being relaxed in the state. CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan confirmed the same.
Last month, Ernakulam district -- where Kochi is -- witnessed its highest-ever peak incoronavirus infections, which had raised doubts about the possibility of holding the conference.
The public meeting, Balakrishnan said, will be held while strictly adhering to the guidelines issued by the Kerala government, including social distancing and masks. He also expressed hope that the party would get the same relaxations as allowed for the Maraman convention and Aluva Sivarathri.
