In view of declining Covid-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday decided to do away with the fine for not wearing masks at public places in the national capital.

The decision was taken in the 35th meeting of DDMA chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyender Jain, Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
In view of declining Covid-19 cases in the national capital, DDMA on Thursday withdrew a fine for not wearing masks in public places.
However, announcing the decision, DDMA advised people to still wear masks, and follow Covid appropriate behaviour.
Currently, there is a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing masks in public places.
Last month, the DDMA had withdrawn fines for people travelling together in private vehicles in Delhi without masks, and also exempted solo drivers in cars from having to wear masks.
Delhi on Wednesday reported 123 Covid-19 cases and one fatality, taking the total tally to 18,64,857 and the death toll to 26,151, according to the data by the health department.
