Aryan Shah wins ITF title in Ahmedabad
Fifth seed Aryan Shah outplayed top seed and the champion of the last two tournaments, Jay Clarke of Britain, 6-1, 6-3 in the final of the $30,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament at the Altevol Academy on Sunday.
It was the second singles title in the professional circuit for the 19-year-old Aryan, who had won his maiden title, in fact a double crown as he won the doubles title also, last year in Kingston.
Clarke had won the two titles last fortnight in Chandigarh, and at the Gujarat Univeristy Academy, but had no answers this day to counter Aryan’s game.
In fact, Aryan had dropped only one set in five matches. He lost only 28 games in all in winning the five rounds to assert his all-round game.
The results (final): Aryan Shah bt Jay Clarke (GBr) 6-1, 6-3.
