Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will spend the next two weeks in jail after his Enforcement Directorate custody ends today. A local court sent him to jail till April 15 after the central agency sought judicial custody of the chief minister.
Mr Kejriwal was produced in Delhi's Rouse Avenue court this morning ahead of the expiry of his probe agency custody. He was arrested on March 21 after he skipped nine summons by the central agency. He has been running his government from the ED lock-up since.
Mr Kejriwal has dubbed his arrest a "political conspiracy", which comes just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and has led to furious protests from the opposition camp. He is the third AAP leader after his former deputy Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh to be arrested in the liquor policy case.
