Union minister Smriti Irani hit out at Arvind Kejriwal for giving a clean chit to Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain, who was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case on Monday, May 30.
Union minister Smriti Irani slammed Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for giving a clean chit to Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.
The ED arresting Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case on Monday, May 30, has triggered a political war of words. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Centre of vendetta politics. Satyendar Jain has been sent to ED custody till June 9.
Responding to these allegations, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, slammed Arvind Kejriwal for saying that the charges against the health minister were baseless. "Pronouncing himself judge, Kejriwal set Satyendar Jain free in the people’s court," said the union minister
“Can you deny that Jain, with the help of 4 companies, with the help of associates & family members, laundered Rs 16.39 lakh with the support of known Kolkata hawala operators from 2010/11 to 2015/16?” questioned Smriti Irani.
The union minister further asked, “When there was no building on the land, what consultancy was an architect offering? Can consultancy be Rs 16 crore?”
In a press conference organised on Wednesday, June 1, Union minister Smriti Irani slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with seven questions:
1. Did Satyendar Jain launder crores of rupees to family members through 4 shell companies from 2010-to 2016?
