Artists completely transform Toronto home set for demolition

A Toronto home set to be torn down has been completely covered with art — inside and out — and you're welcome to visit.
The house at 91 Barton Ave., near Christie Pits Park, features everything from painted toilets to artwork made from peeling back layers of wallpaper. It's includes the work of 20 artists and will open to the public this weekend
Stephanie Avery, whose work you may have seen on murals throughout the city, is the lead artist on the project. She told CBC Toronto she's been hoping to do something like this for a while. And after a single email to the developer, Green Street Flats, she netted her the chance.
Avery said working on the house has changed her as an artist.
"Getting to actually go into a space like this and transform it has absolutely shifted the way I think about space and the way I think about my practice," she told CBC Radio's Metro Morning.
Avery said she's hoping Toronto will see more projects like the art house, suggesting it's filling a need. Artists, she said, are struggling to find space to work in, while many structurally-sound buildings are awaiting redevelopment.
