Arrested Maharashtra Leaders Can't Vote In Rajya Sabha Polls: Court

Elections will be held for six Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra and for the first time in more than two decades, there is a contest with seven candidates.
Arrested Maharashtra ruling party leaders Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh will not get bail to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections, a court in Mumbai ruled today.
The decision comes a day before the elections in which every vote counts. The two may approach the High Court.
Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra Minister, has been in jail since his arrest in February by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. The state's former home minister Anil Deshmukh is also in jail on similar allegations.
Both had requested a day's bail to cast their vote in the Rajya Sabha election on Friday.
