The shocking outburst came amid the court suspending officials at Delhi's Tihar Jail for colluding with Sanjay and Ajay Chandra and allowing them to run their business from behind bars
Angry words were exchanged in the Supreme Court Wednesday during an online hearing of the Unitech case, with Justice DY Chandrachud forced to raise his voice after senior advocate Vikas Singh shouted that the court was being "one-sided" and that the judges would "repent their actions".
Mr Singh, who represents both Sanjay Chandra and his older brother, Ajay, lashed out after being refused access to the case diary (specifically the Grant Thornton report regarding the alleged financial irregularities at Unitech) that the defendants wanted to read.
"How long will this ex-parte (one-sided) hearing go on? I am the second-largest real estate developer who has built around five crore square feet area and over one lakh units," Mr Singh shouted.
Justice Chandrachud, initially calm, responded: "This is not ex-parte hearing (and) you are not entitled to peruse the case diary."
