In Buxar, students stopped to train and raised slogans against the scheme. The protesting aspirants said, “Four years is to less.” They added that they were worried about their future as they will not have jobs in four years and the new policy does not have a retirement plan.
The Centre on Tuesday unveiled a new short-term recruitment policy for Indian youth to be a part of the armed forces for four years. Termed Agnipath, the scheme will allow youngsters between 17.5 to 21 years to be inducted into any of the three services as agniveers.
