Indian Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande began his three-day visit to forward areas along the LAC.
Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande is on a three-day visit to the forward areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This is his first visit to the sector after taking over as the chief of the Indian Army.
During the visit, Gen Manoj Pande was briefed by the local commanders on the prevailing situation along the borders. The Army chief is also scheduled to witness the high altitude operational capabilities of the deployed formations, including mountaineering skills and long range patrolling.
He is also reviewing the ongoing infrastructure and development work and the connection between the Army and the citizens in the forward areas.
Gen Manoj Pande emphasised the need for vigil and alertness along the border and expressed his satisfaction with the rapid improvement of the operational readiness of formations. He also applauded the use of modern technology to undertake persistent surveillance.
He exhorted the troops deployed in the forward posts to maintain high standards of professional excellence and applauded them for their high morale. He also complimented the excellent synergy between the Army, CAPF, civil administration and police towards operational effectiveness and sustainable development in the border areas.
