Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is under investigation for an alleged "pay-for-play" scheme after a report showed a business got a big rate hike after it donated to her inauguration
The request came after a report in The Arizona Republic showed Sunshine Residential Homes, the operator of group homes for foster kids, was approved for a nearly 60% increase in taxpayer funds via the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) after previously being denied an increase. The approval came after the private company donated around $400,000 to Hobbs, including to her campaign and inauguration, as well as to the state Democratic Party, according to the report.
