The sale of passenger cars rose 6 per cent on-year during April-November 2021, while the sale of Utility Vehicles (UVs) rose by a whopping 57 per cent in the same duration.

The taste of Indian car owners is changing rapidly and they are increasingly preferring to be behind bigger and more fancy wheels. This is evident from the fact that the sale of passenger cars rose 6 per cent on-year during April-November 2021 while the sale of Utility Vehicles rose by a whopping 57 per cent in the same duration.

The growth (93 per cent) was maximum in bigger UVs with length between 4.4 - 4.7 metres and price less than Rs 20 lakh, and expensive UVs priced between Rs 20 - 30 lakh. The growth (34 per cent) was least in smaller UVs with length 4 - 4.4 metres and price below Rs 20 lakh, according to the Society of Indian Automobiles Manufacturers.
