APSRTC rakes in the moolah during Sankranti. The public sector transport organisation has earned an all-time high revenue of ₹23.71 crore in a single day on January 20. Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Dwaraka Tirumala Rao attributes it to operation of special services at regular fares.
Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy on January 21, 2025 (Tuesday) said the A.P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) had earned a record revenue during Sankranti, thanks to the patronage extended by the people of the State.
In a statement, Mr. Ramprasad thanked people for trusting the State-run transport sector, which had made elaborate arrangements to cater to their travel needs during the festival season.
He said officials at the helm were upbeat, as the public sector carrier recorded an all-time high revenue of ₹23.71 crore in a single day on January 20, 2025.
In a statement, APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao informed that during this year’s Sankranti, the daily revenue exceeded ₹20 crore on three occasions, an unprecedented achievement for the organisation.
Mr. Tirumala Rao attributed it to the operation of special buses at regular fares. He said, contrary to the initial plan to operate 7,200 special buses to cater to the festival demand, the corporation pressed into service 9,097 buses, and these services generated a total revenue of ₹21.11 crore.
He said, keeping in mind the people’s transportation needs during the festival period, the APSRTC planned well in advance, ensuring availability of adequate number of buses on all the routes and effective management and real-time monitoring of services during the peak season.
He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the staff, especially the drivers and conductors, in delivering quality services. He also thanked the public for reposing their trust in the public sector transport services.
