Apple to improve AI news alerts feature after BBC complaint

Apple said it is working on an update for its AI news alerts feature post BBC filing a formal complaint against incorrect news summaries.
Apple has said that it will work on its AI news alerts feature after reports of inaccurate summaries on its latest iPhone models.
The tweak update comes after complaints of incorrect news alerts. The application, in December, alerted users that Luigi Mangione, the accused in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, had shot himself. The alert had the BBC logo in it.
A week ago, another news alert from Apple said incorrectly that tennis champion Rafael Nadal had come out as gay.
The iPhone maker has responded to BBC saying it is developing a software update to “further clarify” these news alerts summaries generated by Apple Intelligence. The update will be rolled out in the coming weeks, the company said.
The Apple Intelligence features which have been rolled out to iPhone 16, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models along with some iPads and Macs, are still in beta, according to Apple. The company said that they are constantly making improvements to the feature with the help of user feedback.
In the statement, Apple also encouraged users to report their concerns if they found more of these examples. Apple hasn’t yet commented aside from their statement to the BBC.
