Apple Mac Studio with M1 Ultra chipset launched, aims to please users who want power but not Pro price
India Today
After many rumours, the Apple Mac Studio is a reality. Apple has launched Mac Studio hoping to give users a powerful yet compact computer without charging the Mac Pro like price for it. Along with the Studio, the company has also launched Studio Display, a smart monitor.
At the Peak Performance event on Tuesday night, Apple launched a new Mac. Called the Mac Studio, the new Mac is fairly compact and yet is significantly more powerful than the Mac Mini the company launched last year. In fact, it is even faster than the MacBook Pro 14 and Pro 16 that Apple launched just a few months ago. This is because the Mac Studio is powered by a new variant of Apple’s M1 chipset called M1 Ultra.
Apple says that the Mac Studio will be available in two variants: with M1 Max and with the M1 Ultra. The M1 Max variant has a starting price of Rs 189,900 in India while the Studio with the M1 Ultra price starts at Rs 3,89,900.
While Apple watchers will be familiar with the M1 Max from the MacBook Pro 16 and Pro 14, the M1 Ultra is a sort of M1 Max doubled. It is essentially two M1 Max chips connected together.
Apple says that the Mac Studio, whether it is powered by the M1 Max or if it uses the M1 Ultra, outperforms the 27-inch iMac or even an average Mac Pro.
The company says that a Mac Studio with M1 Max is:
— Up to 2.5x faster CPU performance than the fastest 27-inch iMac with 10-core processor.
