Anupam Kher says Salman Khan called to congratulate him on the success of The Kashmir Files

Turns out, Salman Khan has not only watched The Kashmir Files but has also lauded Anupam Kher for his performance. The film has collected a sum of Rs 219 crore at the box office.
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files was a complete surprise package! After entering the Rs 200 crore club within two weeks of run-time, the film’s success has taken everyone by a storm. The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, amid others in the lead. After Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan lauded Anupam Kher’s performance and the film in toto, Salman Khan was the latest A-lister to watch the film and congratulate Anupam for his stellar act.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files is doing phenomenally well at the box office. It has collected a total sum of Rs 219 crore on day 16. After Bollywood’s A-listers comprising Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn spoke about The Kashmir Files, Anupam Kher said Salman Khan called him personally to congratulate him for his performance and the success of the film. Speaking to Times Now Navbharat, Anupam shared that Salman was one of the stars who reached out to him after watching The Kashmir Files. He said, “But individually, I must say, Salman Khan called me the other day and congratulated me."
In an interview with the same portal, Anupam Kher spoke about the film industry’s silence over the success of The Kashmir Files. He said, “As far as the Hindi film industry is concerned, I think they're too much in a shock. Aisa kabhi hua nahi hai. Whenever a shocking thing happens, it's a very very strange reaction.” He cited the example of his 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Koun with Salman Khan, which was declared a flop in the beginning, and shared, “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun premiere huwa tha toh the industry was saying, 'Oh my God! Yeh kya banaya diya hai, yeh toh shaadi ka video hai'. But it turned out to be the biggest grosser.”
The Kashmir Files is based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners. The ensemble cast comprises Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit, Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta (Inspired by Farooq Ahmed Dar), and Puneet Issar as DGP Hari Narain.
