Another gold trader killed in Kolkata, valuables missing from shop

After Bhabanipur, another gold trader was killed in Kolkata in the last two weeks. Employees of Dilip Kumar Gupta, 61, found his body lying in a pool of blood inside his business establishment in Posta on Sunday afternoon.
Police said Gupta had been running his gold business in a rented place in Sivtala Street for the last two years. He was alone in his shop on Sunday afternoon when some unidentified persons allegedly barged in and killed him.
Sources in Kolkata Police said the gold trader’s body was found with the hands and legs bound together. There were also multiple injuries on the body.
Some valuables also went missing from the shop. Police are investigating all possible angles. Primary investigation suggests there were multiple persons involved in the crime.
A probe has been initiated and investigators are going through CCTV footages to for leads.
Earlier this month, a gold trader was found strangled to death with a telephone wire inside a hotel room in Bhabanipur. The victim was identified as Shantilal Baid, resident of Lee Road. He was allegedly kidnapped for ransom by his killers.
