A 52-year-old commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver from North Bay, Ont., is facing an impaired charge following a traffic stop on Highway 11.
Just before 6 p.m. on March 14, Almaguin Highlands OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) responded to multiple traffic complaints of a tractor-trailer on Highway 11 in Strong Township.
“Police were able to locate the tractor-trailer and conduct a traffic stop,” said police in a news release.
“Upon speaking with the driver, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages.”
The driver was arrested and transported to the local OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, the 52-year-old North Bay driver is charged with two impaired driving offences, driving a motor vehicle with open liquor, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and driving a CMV in contravention of conditions.
The accused also was issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the tractor-trailer was impounded for seven days.
