The WhatsApp chats of Ankita Bhandari, who was allegedly murdered by the BJP leader's son and others, will be probed by the SIT team. The family of the deceased has refused to perform last rites and demanded that the autopsy report should be handed over to them.
The family of the 19-year-old murdered Uttarakhand teenager, Ankita Bhandari, has refused to perform the last rites as they have demanded handing over of the post-mortem first. The father of the girl has also questioned the Uttarakhand government over the demolition of the resort and asked, "Why was the resort razed when it had evidence?"
The resort owner, Pulkit Arya, who also happens to be BJP leader Vinod Arya's son, its manager and assistant manager were arrested on Friday and sent to 14-day judicial custody. The autopsy report of Ankita revealed that she died due to drowning and there were findings of injuries on the body before death, suggestive of blunt force trauma.
As the alleged murder of Ankita Bhandari sparked protests, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered an SIT probe into the incident and said' harshest punishment' would be given to the accused. The SIT would also probe Ankita's WhatsApp chats where she told one of her close friends that Pulkit Arya and managers where she worked were mounting pressure on her to provide 'special services' to clients.
"We have called every employee in the resort to the police station; will take everyone's statements. We're running a full background analysis on the resort. Ankita's WhatsApp chats that have surfaced are also being probed, "DIG PR Devi, SIT in-charge told ANI.
