Anil Deshmukh and the Maharashtra government have challenged the Bombay High Court order that allowed the CBI to probe corruption charges against Deshmukh. In his plea, Anil Deshmukh has argued that the HC did not follow proper procedure.
A day after the Bombay High Court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the allegations levelled against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the state government and Deshmukh have both approached the Supreme Court challenging the high court order. Anil Deshmukh, who has been accused of corruption and extortion by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, has questioned the high court order over the procedure followed. In a letter written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray last month, Param Bir Singh accused Anil Deshmukh of instructing police officers to collect Rs 100 crore per month for him via extortion. He also accused him of interfering in police investigations, Deshmukh has denied these charges.More Related News
