Ayushmann Khurrana's political thriller Anek opened to positive reviews. However, the film's first-day collection remained low and the turnout at theaters was not great. . The film, which highlights the insurgency in North-East India and the need for a unified India, has been directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks. The film was released on May 27.
Ayushmann Khurrana's Anek, according to a report by Box Office India, collected Rs 1.75 crore on the opening day. This is very low even compared to Ayushmann's Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which opened to Rs 3 crore. Further, with the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Top Gun Maverick, Anek may take time to pick up pace.
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa in the lead role, Anek is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks. The film has been shot in Northeast India. Ayushmann said that Anek will "usher in a different language of cinema."
Anek marks the second collaboration between Ayushmann and director Anubhav after the 2019 film Article 15.
