Andhra salary row: Left parties extend support as employees threaten indefinite strike
India Today
Left parties have extended their support to Andhra government employees and teachers' unions protesting against the new salary revision orders in the state.
Andhra government employees and teachers' unions who are staging a protest against the new salary revisions in the state have received the support of Left parties. The employees have threatened an indefinite strike from February 7.
Now, the state Road Transport Corporation (RTC) employees have also joined the protest and are also likely to join the indefinite strike. All RTC unions in Vijayawada have formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to support the employees.
The RTC unions said that bus operations would be stopped because of the strike. Earlier, teachers' associations and government employees associations had threatened to go on strike.
The Ministers' Committee constituted by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has assured that the government is ready to hold talks with employee unions.
Government Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the leaders of the steering committee had brought three demands to the notice, which include putting PRC orders in abeyance, the release of the Ashutosh Misra report on PRC, and implementation of the previous pay scale.
"The government is ready to discuss the employees' issues as they are part of the government and invited them all for the talks," the government advisor said.
Sajjala expressed hope that they would be able to resolve the issues in the best possible way. He appealed to the employees to understand the situation and act accordingly.
