Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Lokesh lays stone for 100-bed government hospital in Mangalagiri. The facility coming up near Chinakakani will match the standards of corporate hospitals, and will be completed in one year, he says.
Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT & Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh laid the foundation for a 100-bed government hospital, near Chinakakani, in Mangalagiri mandal on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lokesh said the new hospital would match the standards of corporate hospitals, and it would have orthopaedic, gynaecology, general medicine and general surgery departments.
He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wanted construction of 100-bed hospitals in every constituency, and it was good to have one sanctioned for Mangalagiri so soon.
The Minister said the coalition government aimed at holistic development of all regions, and Mangalagiri, where he had tasted defeat in 2019 only to bounce back with an impressive 91,000 majority in the 2024 elections, was a part of it.
The Minister said he was grateful to the people of Mangalagiri for giving him the decisive mandate, and promised to develop the constituency into one of the country’s best.
Mr. Lokesh said the construction of a 100-bed hospital would be completed in one year with the cooperation of the A.P. State Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation chairman Chillapalli Srinivasa Rao.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, TTD Board Member Tammisetti Janaki Devi, and Tenali Sub Collector V. Sanjana Simha were present.

Minister for Water Resources Roshy Augustine paid his respects to Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome on Friday ahead of the funeral planned on Saturday. Mr. Augustine is in the Vatican as the official representative of the Kerala government. He paid his respects to the late pontiff along with Cardinals Baselios Cleemis and George Jacob Koovakad. Mr. Augustine reached the Vatican on Friday morning. He will return to India on Sunday after attending the funeral, the Minister’s office said in a statement.
